Oxytetracycline is a broad-spectrum tetracycline antibiotic widely used in veterinary medicine and animal feed. In livestock, it treats respiratory infections caused by Pasteurella and Mannheimia, as well as tick-borne diseases such as anaplasmosis and babesiosis in cattle. In swine, it is effective against atrophic rhinitis, leptospirosis, and Mycoplasma infections. In poultry, it controls chronic respiratory disease and fowl cholera. It is also used in aquaculture for bacterial fish diseases and in beekeeping to prevent American foulbrood. Additionally, oxytetracycline serves as a pharmaceutical raw material for human antibiotic formulations.
