Phosphorus is the second most expensive nutrient after energy. Choosing between DCP, MCP and MDCP directly affects bone health, FCR and feed cost.
Why phosphate choice matters
Phosphorus drives skeletal development, eggshell quality, ATP energy transfer and phospholipid structure. Plant phosphorus is mostly bound in phytate and poorly available, so feed must supply inorganic phosphate. DCP, MCP and MDCP dominate the global feed phosphate market â they differ in chemistry, solubility and price.
All JinBei phosphates are produced from purified feed-grade phosphoric acid with controlled fluorine and heavy-metal levels.
Dicalcium Phosphate (DCP)
DCP (CaHPO4·2H2O, CAS 7757-93-9) guarantees Pâ¥18% and Caâ¥21%. About 90%+ is soluble in weak citric acid, giving reliable availability in adult poultry, pigs, ruminants and aquafeed. It is the most traded and usually most economical grade per kilogram of phosphorus, and it sets both minerals in one ingredient.
Best fit: standard layers, grow-finish pigs, cattle mineral feeds and cost-sensitive compound feeds.
Monocalcium Phosphate (MCP)
MCP (Ca(H2PO4)2·H2O, CAS 7758-23-8) guarantees Pâ¥22% with the highest water solubility of the three â typically above 95%. Fast solubilization matters for young monogastrics with short digestive tracts, starter feeds and shrimp/fish, where fecal phosphorus loss must be minimized.
Best fit: piglet creep, broiler starter, high-performance aquafeed and low-pollution formulations. It costs more per kg but delivers more total and available phosphorus.
